Flowers for the pretty princess

I love flowers! God's beautiful creation for the women. Pink, yellow, purple, white, blue, orange, red, black, woo...so many different colours. Used to be allergic to flower pollens and perfumes. Now no more! Maybe receiving flowers helps. Haha...

As mentioned before, my dad loves gardening. Therefore, we have some pretty flowers blooming. Let me proudly present to you, THE FLOWERS EXHIBIT... outside my coridoor. Haha.

Do you see any macho man this time? This flower only blooms from noon to sunset. Sadly, the man never gets to see the lady, who only comes out at night.

Erm, is this Frangipani? The one that rears "pontianak"? Don't worry. We have Jesus. He's bigger than the pontianak. No fears. This one "operates" at normal working hours. Opens for a few days.
Another difficult-to-name flower. Periwinkle? Are periwinkles poisonous? I think they are. This one really last very long. Maybe 1 week or more.

This one should be Lily. Finally, something normal, has normal working hours, is not poisonous or related to ghostly stuff.

Bangkok trip

Just came back from Bangkok a few days ago. Shop a lot, eat a lot. Must have put on weight. Sigh... and too lazy to exercise. Wake up girl and pull up your socks! Stop procrastinating! Should I go visit california fitness since I have free entry twice a month? Think I should. But I need a companion. Sigh...

Back to my Bangkok trip. It's my 1st trip there, to attend my sister's graduation party. She graduated from Gemilogy Institute of America, a cert in jewellery designing. Yawn, it was a boring party. I sat there observing people behaviour, while my dad played chess with Grandpa Zhou, aka 周公.

Bangkok is a place where strongholds are tough to break. Every piece of land is dedicated to the spirits. There's a shrine house to keep the spirits to "protect" the land. It's everywhere! You can't miss it. There's tons of temples there too.

We went on a 1-day tour to Floating Market, War Museum and River Kwai. It's the best tour service I have encountered. Bangkok is sweltering hot at 40 degrees, but all thanks to the tour agency, they smartly thought of giving all passengers wet tissues covered with ice after every stop! Nice....

Floating market was fun. We have a short boat trip along the river to see how Thai people live alongside the river. They wash their clothes, utensils in the river. Not very hygienic though. Then we walked thru the floating market, bargaining to get the chickus, mangoes and coconuts.

War museum aka JEATH Museum was something that blew my mind. For someone who failed history in Sec 2, and henceforth swore off history from exams, not surprising that I didn't know that Thailand was involved in WWII. But Thailand was not considered a defeated country in WWII. Too long to tell you the history. But, in JEATH museum (involving Japan, England, Australia, Thailand and Holland), we visited a campsite that modelled after the real one back in 1940s, packed with photos, drawings, newspaper articles.

In any war, there's cruelty. War is bad, real bad. Something I remembered most was a drawing of the different torture methods. One of it was called Jesus method. You guessed it correctly, it's crucification. They nail the people on the board and let them die. Ouch! The railway was meant to be finished in 5 years but the Jap forced and pushed the POWs to finish it in 16 months, regardless of their health conditions. They only eat porridge with salt every day and were infested with all kinds of skin diseases. So many people died, that's why it's called the death railway.
The death railway that killed thousands.
